Pockets is a richly textured four-track EP that finds Trish Delaney-Brown — award-winning Australian jazz vocalist, songwriter, and educator — weaving together threads of jazz, folk, and soul with her signature warmth and emotional insight. Across these songs, she explores memory, courage, and the quiet persistence of hope, crafting intimate stories that linger in the listener’s mind. From the sweeping narrative of “1917,” which traces a lifetime of change and the echoes of history, to “Crisis of Confidence,” a raw and honest reflection on vulnerability and self-renewal, Pockets captures the deeply human moments that shape us. The title track, “Pockets,” reflects on the fragments of beauty and meaning we carry within — whatever paths we choose — while “Through It All” offers a tender affirmation of love, faith, and enduring friendship in uncertain times. Grounded by Trish’s expressive voice and understated arrangements, Pockets invites listeners to slow down and sit with the stories — to find connection, curiosity, and quiet joy in the spaces between.

ABC JAZZ DIGITAL: After years with The Idea of North, vocalist and composer Trish Delaney-Brown has finally launched her very first recording as leader - simply titled 'The Game.'

Best known as a founding member of the iconic Australian acapella group The Idea of North, singer Trish Delaney-Brown is again making a mark - this time under her own name with her quintet of Jeremy Sawkins (guitar), Greg Coffin (piano), Brendan Clarke (bass) and Nic Cecire (drums). The album's called The Game, and was originally recorded for broadcast here at ABC Jazz in our Sydney studios. Trish has compiled an intriguing mix of originals along with music inspired by her peers from the Australian jazz scene and abroad - and it kicks off our new music highlights reel this week.
